Anyone who has read Betty Edwards' book 'Drawing with the Right Side of the Brain' will have probably tried the exercise of drawing the upside down subject. Well I did too and then tried it again with another subject - my vase of flowers. Being a complete novice artist at the time, I was amazed at the results and how it made me think more about the individual shapes or 'parts' of a picture, rather than the 'whole' thing.
