Oh I don't know - my grandsons seem totally unfazed by blood and gore so the odd dragon wouldn't bother them! What a shame this illustration didn't end up in a book as it is a lot better than some of the ones in my grandchildren's tomes. Love the colours of the dragon's scales and the attitude of it's body looming over the village. The scattering villagers add that touch of scariness that kids love. Really different and beautifully designed and painted.

Love it ! great design and colours.

It certainly makes good viewing for older adults - worthy of any publication.

Thanks Thea, Debs and Michael!

It is a good illustration, and as michael says , worthy of publication. Have you seen the new posters for the Olympics? They are an insult to anyone who paints. Anyone on POL could do better!

Thanks Fred. I agree about the posters. In fact, this painting shows people running.......:)

What a wonderful illustration, my granddaughter would love it!

Thea has said it all! This is a beautiful painting ...... and worthy of any Fairytale book.

I think they would love it! children are quite blood-thirsty these days! I have certainly seen more scary pictures Louise. This one is very well done.

Many thanks Satu, Avril and Carole!

Wow Louise, your daughter was very lucky to have a talented mother to give life to her poems. This is beautifully dramatic. I could see this being used for a stage production.

Powerful illustration to capture the mind - amazing work

Many years ago, I attempted to illustrate some poems that my young daughter had written. The publisher liked the poems and wished us luck! The illustrations ended up in the drawer! I always liked this particular one but upon reflection, perhaps the dragon eating up the village might not have made suitable reading for small children. :)
