Wonderful freshness to this, Louise. I love the transparency of the colour and the patterns created by your brushstrokes.

Wow, a few brushstrokes and you have an attractive painting Louise, well done again !

A super fresh simplistic painting Louise, great colours and very eyecatching.

Another winner! Love it.

Dare I say that this is probably the best painting I have ever seen you do. You will probably want to slap me as I know that many of your others have taken much more work and had more detail, but I just love the soft colours, the sweeping shapes (courtesy of the hake brush!) and the misty ethereal look. You can just tell that this painting has been done with a free arm and an even freer mind - wish I could employ the same tactics! All your work is excellent but, to me, you really pull something off when you just go for it without too much preparation or planning (like your super Manchester Locks painting). I see it doesn't have a title, but the softness and glowing promise of a new day made the very simple title of 'Dawn' come into my head.

I love the Hake brush - I have 4 of them, from 1 inch up to 3 inches wide: they work wonderfully with watercolour, provided only that they're not used for scrubbing paint on; I know some use them just for wetting the paper, but they can do so much more than that. As your painting proves - fearful that you might slap me as well as Thea, I shall carefully avoid saying this is one of the best I've seen you do, but it certainly is one that appeals to me and has just worked perfectly.

This has a lovely sweeping feel, Louise. The way in which the colours blend gives a feeling of freedom and strong movement, yet it is gentle throughout, which makes for a certain tension in the work.

Excellent stuff Louise, lovely , marquetry blocks of colour. best Mick

Goodness, I'm in shock!! Thank you all so much

Absolutely love it Louise! The colours and the direction of the brush strokes remind me of 'ribbons'.

I love this. Really interesting.

Happy shock I hope..... It just works Louise.

I agree with all the above a great painting.

Add my appreciation to the accolades above - one of your very best Louise

Thank you Fiona, Midori, Sylvia, Glennis and Michael! Such good comments which I do appreciate.

Very minimalistic and very good!

Gorgeous Louise - great movement and lovely colour. How I wish that I could be as free and inventive as this. Well done.

Oh Wow! The best ever Louise, and you know what a fan I am of all your work :)

Many thanks Julie and Sarah!

Love the broad brushwork, Louise. Simple in parts, yet it makes a statement!

watercolour 29 cm x 42 cm. Hake brush used for this one. By using such a large, flat brush it's impossible to add too much detail!
