Love it! Everyone is doing something different and all the attitudes of the bodies are perfect, especially the lady lying on her front reading her paper. To me, these sketches capture an energy and vivacity that is often lacking from more studied works and I find this the most engaging thing about them. However, I have to say that, contrary to the impression they give, these continuous one liners are difficult to do. They look easy and by definition are completed quite quickly, but using pen, being unable to get a line wrong and trying to work out the travel of the pen so as to use a continuous line is no mean feat. Perhaps we should give them a more prestigious name than 'one-liners'. How about Linearism? Could be up there with Cubism and the like!

Thanks Thea. They are fun to do and serve as a good break for me from the more serious stuff. The line started with the bottom left lady's head. Best to go quickly and not worry too much I find! I like 'Linearism'!

Bet you wish you were there Louise;) even the composition is good in this quick one liner, sorry linearism.

I would like to get somewhere near vest and shorts....I'm wearing a vest but it's still underneath two jumpers! Great study and postures.

Agree great study Louise

Yes Linearism works for me!! An engaging composition and I agree they are fun to do but by no means easy!

We were in Crete last week Carole but the tan soon faded and this morning I've put the heating on! Raining here as well. Fiona a heatwave's apparently on it's way. Whether it'll reach you , well, hopefully! Than you Dennis.

Thanks Debs. That's a good word Thea came up with isn't it? This is serious linearism now!

A lovely sunny scene Louise, must get back to the Linearism, at the moment I'm fiddling around with tiny bits of paper and it's driving me mad!

Lovely exciting beach scene -its getting to that time of year

I think perhaps giving a name to this new genre of painting (you saw it first on POL folks!) will give it a bit more gravitas than it has previously enjoyed. I do hope so because I find it fun to do and great fun to view. Everyone who tries this method of drawing and painting brings something new and fresh to the table and surely moving art forward is what it is all about? Long live Linearism!

I sort of tried this once on a "scribbly man's face" - not a single line as such but I did not take my pen off the paper. Anyway, this is a lovely sunny day picture and you have made this new art style look fascinating - mainly, I think, because you have not made it obvious.

Thanks Christine and David! Thea, I agree, painting can sometimes feel a little too serious and work is usually produced for commercial reasons. It should also sometimes be fun. There's some satisfaction to be gained from working quickly like this. A feeling of surprise as well at the result!!

Very good, love the poses !

Careful planning, the right subject and great skill.

Many thanks Linda and Derek although there wasn't really any planning, the pen went roughly in the right direction!

How can you get the proportions of the bodies to be so accurate? Pure skill! It's a smashing little masterpiece again Louise!

Just a bit of fun. One continuous line drawing. About 10 minutes on the back of my watercolour pad cover late last night. The smooth paper didn't help!
