Greens!

Greens!

OMG - I'm having hot flushes - all that GREEN!! My bete noire! However, how well you have used this dreaded colour - only you could come up with something as light and fresh as this using the most difficult colour in the palette. Perhaps that is what the next gallery painting challenge should be - one only done in greens?? Any takers? If I take a course of steroids and have several lies down during the process, I might even have a go myself.

Knew you'd just love this Thea!

Now there's a challenge - might have a go but not sure I will get anywhere near as good as this one!!!!

Hope so Michael, a green gallery? lol

Wow Louise, that is fantastic!! An extraordinary atmosphere! I love it!

Like this; I don't know if you've tried this variation - it was included in Fred Johnson's/Johnston's book on oil painting (ex editor of Leisure Painter). He painted a couple of studies using just viridian and alizarin crimson - complementaries, of course. I tried it myself and was surprised by the depth of darks that could be obtained.

It's like a cool neon glow - I like it! I'm up for a green challenge!

Thank you Satu, I wouldn't have painted using this palette normally if it wasn't for hearing about Thea's green problem. lol. Robert, I've just tried out that colour combination, stunning darks and worth pursuing so thanks for the idea. Marjorie, hope so and thanks for an idea for a title..'neon glow', which sounds a lot better than 'greens'. lol No wonder I'm so fond of this site!

Nice work and what good idea, good practice for all.

Really like this Louise, so much harmony. Interesting to compare with the previous version of the same scene. I've been away for a few weeks, and seem to have missed many good works, and also a whole bunch of challenges : greens, number of brush strokes, etc. All great practice - trouble is, where to start !

Superb Louise - really different, thought provoking, and above all interesting (which all of your works are). Good stuff

It's all been said Louise, it's dramatically different!

Wow, Louise. This is stunning. I think I will also give it a go in the coming days. Super palette of greens!

Thanks Derek, Sharon, Joseph. Christine and Mia. It would be interesting to see some other greens..lol

Harmony, yes, Sharon's put her finger on it. It's all together, fluent and painterly, but still with your inimitable quirkiness. The ghostly greens are a winner and contribute greatly to the dream-like character of this scene. Quite haunting.

Thank you Kim, I'm quite pleased with the way this one turned out!

Well, for me it's the blue that make the greens work so well. Plus the beautiful tonal balance, not to mention the quality of the drawing. It all draws me in.

Wow! Only you could carry this off Louise !

... and what a wonderful effect you have created! Fabulous.
