Bold and brave darks and lovely composition, Louise. I like it very much.

This is lovely, dark and strong - just like the city in winter as it is now. I do like the way the street winds into the painting which really draws your eye through to 'no entry' sign - clever composition. Everything is right about it and I think it is a wonderful painting.

Many thanks Lionel and Thea which I appreciate as I spent some time on this one!

One of your best Louise, those dark tones work really well. as has been said the composition really brings the eye into the painting.

Oh thank you Stephen!!

I do like your loose paintings Louise but these sharper ones are even better! Lovely colours, especially that eye catching pink.

Great painting Louise, bold and powerful! The composition is just right too with the lovely square on the left hand side. Worth spending the day with it!

Wow - best street scene you have ever done in my opinion. I love the sharpness of the buildings and the high key colours of the orange, red and green buildings which really draws me in. The windows on the orange and little red building in the middle are for me the focal point - the windows are superb. Brilliant.

Another great painting, and I agree with the other your best yet, the sharper style really suits the city I think, and the bolder abstract colors, You like your pink buildings. The composition is great too, I'm not sure but I think it could be even better without the tree.

Great scene street Louise

I agree with all that's been said Louise, it's a super scene and I love that pink!

Love the bend in the road and sign, super painting full of life.

Thank you all so much for your kind and encouraging comments. This one took ages, for me that is! Kevin, it's a real scene, the building really is pink, well dark pink anyway..which is what appealed to me I suppose. I remember reading about a scene in Whitby (I think) where a house had been painted a bright turquoise colour and many artists weren't too keen on the look of it. I liked it and thought at the time that it improved that particular view! The tree balances the painting I feel and there are a few down this street in real life but thanks for giving it some thought. I do like to hear what people think and take ideas on board. Thank you all again.

I'm a bit late coming to this so it's all been said and I have to agree with everyone that this is one of your best yet.

Hi Louise, how sweet of you to comment on my little 'discussion' - thanks for provoking it! Your comments are as spontaneous, honest and expressive as your work, and I feel much guilt for being such a poor correspondent. It's all about listening to the 'voice within' . You are enviably attuned to it and I envy you. Bold, uninhibited and unflinching. Thanks so much.

Great sense of place and well drawn.

Thank you Val, Kim and David for your generous comments. David, I took more time over the drawing so I'm glad you said that and Kim, very kind of you to say such nice things about my work which I wish were all true. :)

Another splendid piece, Louise! Something very bold and powerful about this piece, and I love the palette!
