Ok I really like this, but it confuses the hell out of me and I'm trying to work out why. This is what I like... I'm a cartaphile so I love maps. This painting of a satalite image (or very high plane) appeals to me a lot. I like the colours, the composition and crop... but I just don't understand why you'd paint this.... its so daring... 'cos it'd be so easy just to blow up the photo and the picture is so close to what that type of image looks like anyway... I do a lot of high viewpoint stuff but that all has perpective... whilst this approach is flat and almost abstract. Sorry - please understand I think this is a wonderful piece - I only comment on stuff I really like - I just don't get what you got out of painting it... very, very brave.

Thanks for your feedback Ade. Interesting that you saw it as a satellite image, obviously the image is related to that, but actually the work is part of a series I am working on from sketches and photos taken during flights over Pembrokeshire (I am swapping a painting for flights with a local pilot for my research). It probably doesn`t come over in reproduction on screen, but the painting is partly a collage of details from the landscape on the ground, and my interest is in working with detail and overview at the same time. The work is born out of years of walking and painting this landscape and painting on this scale is a real physical involvement with the work.
