St Catherine's Light

I like this Linda, simple light and just enough detail rendition, love the glimpse of a tree in the foreground as well, the casual touch of light and shadow work great i think, if i was in the market for a painting this would be as likely to get my attention as any

Just down the road from me; this is sparkling with light; I've painted the St Catherine's Light myself, but - I've a horrible feeling your paintings are better.

I think compostion and balance of light is fine but foreground detracts from lighthouse. Am not sure about street light and down pipe on cottage. I think that many of us, and that implies me, look at a scene too literally and want to include everything without being selective. Edward Hopper painted some powerful images of lighthouses.

A bit of a departure for me in style, although I have done a couple like this before. I find this look seems to suit buildings best. Unfortunately it doesn't seem popular with visitors to exhibitions here on the island, so far I haven't sold any paintings done in this style.
