A colourful phrase by Lewis Cooper

Did one of these the other day, I know a few but thought I'd look some up. Most you can guess at the meaning, but this one floored me. Can't expect Fiona to translate all the time...this is said when you think someone's trousers are too short!! Brilliant. Apparently it stems from flags flown at half-mast when someone dies. (Don't worry, I won't be doing a mass of these.)

The saying made me chuckle Lewis and an excellent drawing.

What a complex phrase, with an interesting background Lewis. Great character and love the amazing expression.

Brilliant, great character, good start to a dull day.

Excellent character, and once again brilliantly drawn Lewis.

A marvellous interpretation Lewis and thanks for providing the answer!

Great quote and a wonderful illustration

Or it could be that Wullies dug is deid! Great drawing Lewis.

Always inventive - I wonder what the origin of that phrase is?

Lovely work Lewis, as always 🥰

Great expression, I'm glad you translated Lewis.

Brilliant 👏👏

I am scratching my head about the Devon girl’s version of this, used when your petticoat is showing under the bottom of your dress. Was it Shirley’s dead? But yous is brilliant!

It has just come to me - “Charlie’s dead”.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
