Art Gallery by Lewis Cooper
I've been making a lot of stuff up recently, and thought I'd copy something for a change. I shouldn't have picked a Rembrandt self portrait, there's plenty of easier stuff out there. The subtlety in his portraits is astonishing. I've always thought that as far as portrait painting goes, Rembrandt is the bees-knees...now I think he's the bee-knees, elbows and feet. But I had a go...maybe should have done it in oils. This is in my A3 sketchbook, watercolour with a little body colour here and there.
About the Artist
Lewis Cooper
Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
