HOT ain't it! by Lewis Cooper

Sorry I haven’t been posting, commenting or otherwise contributing. A self inflected injury has kept me laid up in a chair. My son has been laying a path in my garden, he’d dug it out and laid the sub-base, and wasn’t able to lay the paving slabs for a couple of weeks. I used to love doing this stuff, so I thought I’d lay a few slabs myself. Pretty straightforward so far, here’s where the plot shifts...after 4 slabs I put my back out and popped the ligaments in my knee. So now I’m walking wounded. Sitting at my art desk or computer was painful. Back’s much better, knee will take longer. It’s generally accepted that you grow wiser as you age. That hasn’t taken in my case. There must be someone I can complain to and get my money back. And now the HEAT!! Until our PROPER summer turns up, and I’m wearing 2 vets, a scarf and my long-johns, you won’t be getting much more than scribblys from me. Lew the plonker.

I meant '2 vests', not 2 vets. Vets are expensive, and I'm a poor hard-up pensioner.

What a great idea and what a great drawing, thanks for sharing Lewis. Please don't do any more 'exercise'!

Oh no, Lewis! I’m as daft as you and it usually involves lifting or bending. And age means things take much longer to recover from - if you ever do! I think we’re all plonkers😆 Take it easy ( it’s all you can do and if you’re like me, you don’t!)

Hell's teeth, Lewis, at your age you should have known better. Hope a full recovery will come soon for you. Nice to see you still have your vibrant sense of humor. Nice work.

Great sketch. Sorry to hear about your night on the tiles!

That is wonderful sketch, Lew! Hope your problems soon become a thing of the past!

Take it easy Lew , we all can't do what we use to, keep sketching and brightening up our day.

I'm sorry to hear about your injuries and I hope you get back to your normal life soon. Whenever you can, please make me smile again. You're awesome! Greetings from Spain.

‘It ain’t ‘alf Lewis! Great drawing but I think your labouring days are over, pen and paper only from now on!

I do hope you are beginning to feel better soon Lewis and your sketch is terrific,, love the way he can strum with his feet! Enjoy some more comic Art sketches and doodles of fun! 🪷🍇🍦🙌

So funny Lewis and such a sense of humour when you're in pain. Great drawing. Get plucking them there strings now.

Blimey! What can I say, just sit back with a cold beer and plan future artworks.

Hope everything slips back into place very soon Lewis, in the meantime, keep drawing!

Get well soon Lewis, I decided some time ago to let others do the heavy lifting.

We call them life’s lessons, I think. Speedy recovery Lewis.

Sorry too hear of your plight Lewis. Anything you can conjure up will be a gift for us all.

Definite sounds like a case of “ the mind is willing but the flesh is weak” and it’s harder as we get older, thinking we can “just do it” like we used to do. Hope you recover soon but a great sketch! We’re all feeling the heat.

Good to see your humour after your accident Lewis. All I can suggest is less Slabs more Pen and Ink. And it wouldn't do you much harm wearing one of my Vets, She's a cracker.

Thank you all very much for your comments.

There once was a guy named Lew Who bit off more than he could chew While lifting a slab He felt a quick jab Now he’s wiser but sadder, boo hoo!

That’s better than my limerick, Marjorie.

Love your posts and great sense of humour, Lewis. Hope you get back to normal soon - you make that funny too!

Fabulous and love the verse to accompany him! I’m the same, I see something needs doing in the garden and I won’t wait for help, my kids threaten me but you think you are still very capable (not). I’m 81 next month and think I’m invincible until I strain something or other, then I get - I told you not to do that! 🙄

Funny sketch Lewis, take it easy and I hope your body recovers soon, ya plonker!

Great sketch, hope your back heals soon.

Very sorry to hear of your injuries Lew, at least they haven't affected your sense of humour!

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
