Colin Steed-Artist & Tutor. I think you have handled the painting very well Dorothy. The large tree and foreground shadow are the right tone. They light up the road and buildings. Yes some of the buildings are not quite in correct perspective. Its mainly the lower parts of the right-hand building and wall. The church spire is a little thick too. But overall you have achieved that sunlite affect. Good job done Dorothy.

Dorothy Barton sent in her version of Colin's project saying: 'I found the tree quite difficult I made it really dark initially but found it too dominant so took it back to a paler colour. The perspective was hard and I can see now I have painted it I have not got some bits quite right. I enjoyed doing it as an exercise and thought the painting was so much better than the photograph.'
