Colin Steed-Artist and Tutor. Well done Geoff. Yes I would say if your not good with figures then don't put too many in a painting. Having said that we can ownly improve our figure painting by painting figures so good for you, you did put one in and it did work. Warmer tones in some of the brick work and darker tree reflections in the windows plus some foreground shadows would all help the overal painting. I think a little more colour vairiation in the in the window display may also help but the open sign is a lovely addition. Well done again.
