Colin Steed-Artist & Tutor. Its not a bad attempt Graham and good to hear you enjoyed the painting proccess. Yes, your shadows are not fresh clean washes of colour. You have overworked some areas in your painting. Always paint with a well loaded brush. Should you not have the right tone or colour always allow the wash to dry before you over paint an area. Mixing colour on you paper will produce a muddy colour. We have all been there, just keep paint.
