Dave Crawford sent in his version of Jane's project saying: 'I enjoyed the article and wanted to have a go, I took the opportunity while on holiday in Gran Canaria to sketch out the outline the warm climate helped! and when I got back I transferred this to watercolour paper. I left out the post in the middle of the foreground as it held the eye and didn't allow it to move around the picture, the stone walk way draws the viewer into the lake side and off along it into the distance. I think I could have made more of the houses. I wanted to recreate the height of the tree lined mountain side in the background and I was happy with the result. On the whole I really enjoyed painting the picture it had its challenges, I paint a lot from pictures I've taken on holiday and this project has allowed me to explore the development of a picture from my photographs, thank you. '
