Rosemary Hale says: 'Well Jackie, I think you have observed and absorbed really well because it shows in your excellent painting. You have depicted everything well and, equally important, your picture has atmosphere and style. One thing maybe, in future, is to check that the focal point is not placed centrally, as this can be a real problem – I don’t believe it spoils anything in this case however. And also, I really like the way you have used vignette to good effect. Did you use a damp sponge to get this effect after completing the painting?'

Thanks for your comments Rosemary. I had intended to avoid the bridge being central and I agree it would look better slightly off centre. Maybe when I frame it I'll keep that in mind. I used a damp sponge for the vignette effect and also over the background trees which seemed to be too prominent at first. I erased the cottage I'd painted in originally too. Good job I used some tough paper with all the dabbing and dragging etc! I quite enjoy the monthly challenge and have learnt a lot. It's really good to get feedback too.

Jackie Poulouktsi sent in a new version of Cherry Eye Bridge saying: 'I decided to try watercolour again. Although I've never been to the spot in the picture I love this kind of countryside and soon felt at home. Painting really makes you observe and absorb nature and your surroundings generally, whether the finished product is good or not so good!'
