Bearded Iris
David Macgrath sent in his version of the iris project saying: 'As I did not have access to all the watercolours listed in the project I had to rely on Violet Dioxazine, Permanent Rose, Cobalt Blue, Transparent Yellow, Raw Umber, Payne's Grey, Sunlit Green, Country Olive and Midnight Green (the greens from Terry Harrison), and white gouache. The paper I used was Canson Moulin du Roy water colour paper 140lb. I used two brushes, a number 5 Rosemary & Co, Kolinsky Sable and a battered Winsor and Newton brush that has lost its ID, which I used for spotting. Having traced the outline of the iris the painting was completed in about 2 hours. I have only been painting regularly since retiring 2 years ago. My favourite medium is watercolour and I enjoy painting flowers'
