Line and wash is a good way to produce buildings in watercolour. You have achieved clean washes on the buildings and in all of the warm shadows. The water, although a little overworked has a lovely liquid look. May be the sky could have more interest but overall It's a great watercolour Gilly. Start by sketching in pencil plein air first. As your confidents will grows use the pen to draw adding colour when at home.

New member, Gilly Dutton, has sent in her version of Colin's project saying: 'This is my first painting with buildings and I have used ink and water colour, a medium I like very much. I have been painting 2 years and enjoy learning from Leisure Painter projects as I am self taught. I was very much inspired to paint from Colin's photograph because although I live not far from Flatford, I don't have the courage yet to paint plein air!'
