Godshill is a hideous tourist-trap these days, and I wish it did still look like this; I'd prefer to think it did. You couldn't walk up that street these days without being squelched by coaches - maybe in winter,when the island dies..... just goes to show; the world of art is better than the pedestrian reality.

This is the next scene i intend to paint! Its a gorgeous village, but when we were there a couple of weeks ago it was manic with tourists. I love the I.O.W!
