Women didn’t have the same opportunities in those days…some still don’t. Education is the key. How lucky some of us have been.

Marjorie - Thank you so very much for your reaction and observation. It seems there are forces emerging once more to create this situation where women are subjugated to restrictions.

Extremely poignant and, in some cases still quite accurate. Beautifully painted.

Spencer - Thank you for commenting! Much appreciated.

I agree with Spencer- very poignant. You’ve captured it all in your part bring.

Christine - Once in a while I dredge some old memeory up. This is one of which has remained sharp in my mind. Thank you so much for commenting!

So emotional.

Thank you, Sylvia!

What a beautiful portrait of your Mother Skylar, wonderful expression. And such a touching intro too.

Sandra - I appreciate your comments. Thank you very much!

Great message and lovely painting.

Very very powerful Skylar and painted with a lot of love and empathy.

A very sensitive portrait. Beautiful.

What a moving portrait and how sad.

How poignant, and so sensitively expressed. It impressed you deeply.

Skylar this is what art is all about expressing the true feelings that an artist really feels for the subject. The great artist himself John Constable said "Painting is yet another word for feeling" and this is without any doubt what you have done in this wonderful portrait of Rachel. All credit to you for this outstanding piece of work...

So beautiful, you have portrayed the emotions so well.

Thank you so very much, Romila!

I would like to thank each and every one of you for the reactions and comments you have made! Your words have truely touched me.

She was pretty, and a very gifted pianist, with perfect pitch. Married to a man of little ambition and education. They had 4 children. It was a cold winter in Arkansas. She sat, nursing a cup of coffee. Rachmaninoff's Paganini variations played in the background. Her grey eyes looked out at the grey snow as she muttered to herself "Is this all there is?!" I walked into the kitchen just as those words came from my mother's mouth. I was 7.
