Kylia Eastwell

Biography

I constantly drew as a child and teenager, then more or less abandoned art as other hobbies superseded it. My passion was reignited decades later when a neighbour and I attended a regular art class, which pushed me out of my artistic comfort zone and introduced me to media that I'd not tried before, particularly pastel. My main aim is to enjoy art, but I would love to become more proficient with a brush, whereas currently I can express myself much more with pastels and other drawing materials. I've been encouraged by having paintings selected for exhibition in the annual TALP competition in 2022 and 2024, and have done a few commissions for friends and family. My favourite artists are Hashim Akib (acrylics), Hazel Soan (watercolour) and Tony Allain (pastels).
