A very familiar scene not that long ago Michael. Nicely caught memory.

A well portrayed memory, Michael.

Thanks Jim and Ellen. I love his work. I can relate deeply to it as it's where I was brought up.

Superb all round Michael

Thanks Dennis. My dad was a miner, his dad was a miner and his dad was a miner (born 1838).

The lovely late Norman Cornish - I loved his work and this is really good Mick.

You should have been one Michael

Early morning start, I don't envy Michael, very well done.

Thanks Carole. You and I have had plenty of early morning starts but working down a dark wet hole - no thank you.

Touch of the Pitmen Painters here Michael but I like your colours.

A miner stood at the Pearly gates, St. Peter asked him what he did and he said I worked on the face down a pit for 40 years. Come in he said, you’ve already been to hell. A fine painting Michael, a tribute.

Thanks Fiona. And a great story too.

Appropriate colour and good composition Michael.

Yes give me early starts, split shifts and nights but never in the dark underground, don't know how they did it. My great grandad and great great grandad were miners but grandad wouldnt have it he worked on the railway.

Great painting Michel. Have you been to the new Miner's Gallery in Bishop Auckland just opened?

Thanks John Carole and Willie. Grandad was wise Carole. Haven't been yet Willie but I will eventually.

Love this one Michael for it's colours and composition. A really good painting !!

Lovely colours and very atmospheric Michael, great !!

Thanks Louise and Linda.

Great painting Michael, a scene so familiar around here many years ago. I think you've excelled yourself in this painting...I think it's top drawer.

Thanks for your inspiration and kindness Andre.
