This is lovely too. Once again the hair is great. HB is my favourite.

Nothing "ordinary" about the finished work - really good - especially like the hair

Hi Kay, thanks for your comments. I came to have a look at your work and have to say you are very good with your pencils, both graphite and coloured. I especially love this one as it is so full of light, i love the lost edges in the top-left and bottom-right., It's a really great portrait.

Hi Kay, thanks for your kind comment on my 'Bulldog' watercolour. Your portfolio is beautiful and quite striking really! I particularly like this pencil portrait. It's a fantastic pose by the young girl. Did you sketch this from life or from a photograph? I find children rarely sit still for long enough to allow me to sketch them and I nearly always have to rely on a good photo. Not ideal but no other option sometimes! Anyway, well done!

Thank you all for the comments. Will, I used a photograph taken by my husband for this, but I look at that face so often and know it so well I hardly need a sitting! I unashamedly use my grandchildren as 'victims' for my excursions into portraiture because they don't mind - and they never say 'my nose isn't like that!'.

Lol. Yes Kay, I know exactly what you mean about the, "my nose isn't like that!'" comment. My wife has probably used that exact phrase several times after my attempts to capture her portrait! That's why it's safer sticking to painting my dogs...no complaints!

I really love the simplicity and "lightheartedness" of this powerful pencil work!
