My 12 year old grandson has Aspergers, but doesn't have any issues with portraits or faces although it took him a long time to work out what a face was 'saying'. I think it is hard to change the concept of people with ASD because of the rigidity of some of the views on life. I actually find the image slightly scarey, so perhaps that is what he is picking up too. However, that said, I think it is a very interesting and inventive painting - lots of excellent ideas about using circles, etc. Great use of colour as well. As for your son, do landscapes in future for him, perhaps?!

I find this really fascinating, I find it a bit scary too, but also I see humour at the same time, it's beautifully painted, I like it alot.

Thea, I think the exact words my son used at the time were 'pointless' and 'annoying' lol. He'd be happy for me to draw/ paint him a picture of a machine or outer space. I don't think my nerves could stand the criticism of him telling me that I'd done the wrong screw heads or painted a planet back to front though... Thank you for your comments :o)

My son has an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and doesn't like portraits or faces in paintings. I thought I'd try and make a face from geometric shapes... and he didn't like that either! It was interesting to do though :o)
