I'm not surprised that you have received aclaim for this beautiful painting Kat, it's stunning! All for such a good cause too, I love my wildlife and I wish I could do it justice in art as you do.

I have to agree with Fiona. All 3 paintings are superb! I had thought of entering myself,( no not a self portrait) but I'm afraid my wildlife art falls far short.

Thank you Kevin and Fiona for taking the time to leave your kind comments. Kat

What a lovely painting somehow I missed this. You certainly deserved a well earned place in that exhibition when you must have had some stiff competition.I don't want to sound patronising cos I don't mean to be.But very well done.

Thanks Joy! That is the wonderful thing about art - everyone is capable of producing a painting that touches someone else's heart and it has no need to compete with anyone else's work - to that one buyer it is perfection. I think that is why NEWA welcomes established artists along with those who have never exhibited before. If in addition one reaches a level with their art which makes it possible to successfully raise money for charity of any kind, it is a great blessing indeed. Happy painting!

I was delighted to once more be juried into the fabulous National Exhibition of Wildlife Art this year (NEWA). The above painting was selected and sold and a portion of the proceeds will go to wildlife charities. This painting was 18 x 16 (framed) in pastel. As a featured artist on www.daler-rowney.com, I was pleased to write a topical blog entry for the site in the featured artist section (under Kat Davies, artists resources) of an illustrated four step demo and painting challenge using their 12 pastel pencil selection to paint a lapwing which is the NEWA logo. Thank you for looking and happy painting!
