Gorgeous pencil work Karyl, what a great story behind this work as well, super to see you branching out into portraits,

Hi Ros, this is my first people portrait, much easier when its fur. Don't know if I will do another as I kept fiddling with it and still wasn't satisfied.

your attention to detail is amazing, not at all how i work but i do so admire it in other people. lovely story.

A lovely piece, Karyl, drawn so evidently with empathy. I agree with you, I'd rather tackle fur than human portraits!

I have been wondering about when you'll draw a person and here she is, wonderful Karyl! I really hope that you'll do more.

Lovely story, I do like background with a picture! Even though this is very different from your furry friends, I thought it was one of yours as soon as I saw the thumbnail - it's very good!!

How beautiful and such a lovely back story. I like storiess that go with the work. She looks beautiful

Hi Karyl, thanks for your comment on my David Frost pastel portrait, can believe you found it tricky to do this one of your mother, portraits are potentially very difficult because everything is concentrated on the likeness and features, you did a superb job here you know!

Very lovely lady Karyl, great portrait.

This is beautiful (and what a pretty Mum you have got!). I love the smoothness of it and the wonderfully gentle expression in the eyes. One for you to treasure.

Lovely memories and beautiful drawing

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments, I don't know if I will do another portrait, this one was special to me as she died quite young, but I have lovely memories of her.

This photo of my Mum was carried to war and back by my Dad, and arrived home in tact.
