He looks very comfortable there Karyl! Lovely detail in this painting.

They say every picture tells a story and this one sure does. He's obviously 'dog tired' One of my favourites so far of your doggie portraits. Excellent work on the fur.

Great picture Karyl, I had a Golden Retriever who behaved like that, trouble was he always managed to be covered in mud. Strangely though my wife was never amused?

This is a daily occurrence in my household! Just superb, Karyl!

fantastic.

Wow, what a cosy place to be in! Super drawing Karyl!

Ah - this brings my dog back; at first she would sneak onto my bed when I was in it, and then in time she got on it before I did, and rather resented my attempts to climb beneath the duvet.... At which point I realized who was in charge, and it wasn't me..... Beautifully executed drawing/painting - in fact, I think I'd call it a painting.

PS -- yes of course it's a painting (silly old fool); it was the pencils bit that confused me.

Beautiful work Karyl

Great study - our first Labrador always tried this but my husband always shouted " Hollywood Rules!" Which meant one foot always had to stay on the floor.

Hi Karyl, happy new year to you. Hope you had a great Christmas break. Love the portrait, you have really conquered the ink-tense pencil technique. I am still working at the coloured pencils, not easy.

Perfect dog portrait! Just in the position they like to be in. I have a fantastic photo of my dog after she had re-arranged her mattress on her bed to suit her view of comfort! I wish I could send it to you as I think you would love it. This is such a great painting and you skill in painting dogs never fails to amaze me.

Superb - that says it all...!

Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments,

So beautifully done, love the sneaky eye just peeking.

Oh he looks so comfy :) The almost daily cry in my house is "who left the bedroom door open?" LOL

Gorgeous. I love the way your work invokes memories and makes us think about our own dogs foibles. Wonderful painting.

Must try that last suggestion, though not with much hope. Loved the painting, it really strikes a chord as well as being beautifully executed.

Hi Karyl, no I haven't used inks as highlights yet, but I have not yet needed to create delicate white lines, if and when I do at least I know now what to do, thanks for that one. With regards to china white pencil sharpening a good quality helical sharpener will give you a perfect point. Alternatively sharpen with a sharp knife (scalpel etc) and finish off with a fine emery board, I use an old steel file, but an old nail file would also be good. Best wishes Pete.

Another great one Karyl, very sweet sleepy bleary eyed dog
