I like this very much and partly because the perspective is slightly off. I hope I don't cause offense saying that. The slightly off perspective is a great strength in the work. Stylistically it reminds me of the drawings of buildings and rocks by albrecht durer.

It's a lovely drawing just as it is, Karen! Nice views framed by the gateways too.

O I've just read your description. I see. So your perspective was due to something other than artistic considerations. Well I still think there lies it's strength.

I think it’s great Karen. You’ve used mark making in different styles and created a super drawing.

Thank you Michael, I really appreciate your encouraging comments. Thank you too Anne. Its a lovely spot but when we were there last, the actual gateways were partly boarded up so a bit of artistic license!

Thank you very much Spencer.

Very beautifully drawn, Karen.

A superb drawing

Nice pen work Karen; I like all of it.

A great drawing.

Fabulous and so small too. Interesting what you say about photographs.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

The Dunraven gateway near Southerndown 6" x 8". Pencil and ink. I have been looking at Anthony Nield's drawings in August edition of LP and trying some of his mark-making techniques. I did this drawing from a photo and fell into one of the pitfalls mentioned by Murray Ince in his article in the same edition of LP, i.e. that the camera can distort the perspective! That is why a third of the gateway is missing; it was definitely leaning to starboard in my photo, and therefore in my drawing too!!
