George agreed to sit for me when I ran a portrait and figure course for Blackool Art society. There is a point in any sitting when the model is so relaxed that they begin to fall asleep. I wanted to capture that heavey eyed moment of complete relaxation. To be a sitter is a meditative experience. I chose the rich warm background colour to reflect this and that relaxed, comforable feeling which accompanies it and creates that sleepy state.
