The limited pallette works well here Joseph, the painting has a nice glow to it. I've been trying a few imaginary works recently, I think it makes for a looser result. I'm sure working from memory is similar, not distracted by the details in a photo or in reality.

Thank you all for your lovely comments - yes sometimes painting exactly what you see has a restricting feel which can take out the life of a water colour painting.

I can see what you are trying to do with your palette in this one, Joseph, and it is very successful. However, I do love your vibrant colours - bold slashes of red and yellow and although this is a lovely painting, I would like to see it done in your more signature colours.
