Lydbrook - a first time for everything

well first of all, congratulations for using oil paint :-) secondly, this is a lovely painting the sky is delightfully blended and the greens are lots of lovely shades, i like it :-)

This is different for you Julie and I like it very much. You've conveyed the view into the distance really well and the white buildings add interest. You've certainly risen to the 'green' challenge!

Well you have certainly carried this off very well for a one and only landscape, I think you should do more Julie. The greens are very realistic and the recession beautiful.

I don't think you ought to stop here with landscapes Julie. You have a wonderful result, the recession is spot on and the foreground bushes are super, lots of texture and colours.

Great painting Julie, I don't know Lydbrook well, but have been through there many times. Good landscape painting.

would never have guessed this was your first landscape, it is very good

Thank you everyone for your kind and most encouraging comments - maybe I will try another after all.

has a lovely English countryside feel - I like it

I like it a lot. Greens are bright and nice . Keep up the good work and definitely you should try more landscapes:)

I want to walk there! I find a lot of green is always tricky - never looks plausible - but you have pulled it off.

Beautiful colours and a good feeling of distance to your work here Julie. (Wish we could see it a little bigger)

The sky is invented because on the day it was the usual flat, heavy and grey featureless sky that we so often get. The large percentage of green was a bit of a challenge too!
