This is a painting I created by starting with a Kestrel in flight. I added a gold leaf background, thinking that might be all it required but the gloss was too great of the gold. I then added oils on top of the gold to create the effect of the bird flying over a mountain and valley. it shimmers well and looks different from various angles. I might well try again with gold leaf in future.
