Thanks for commenting on my acrylic sunset. I left a message there but then found this- a perfect subject for acrylics. They are nothing to fear. You can use your normal watercolour technique and this would work really well. Just water them down and use like watercolour and when you get more confident, use them like oils. They dry quickly but not as quick as watercolour and at times it's great to be able to work from dark to light! I use watercolour, acrylics and am just learning pastels which used to scare me to death. Can't get the hang of oils strangely. You could get wonderful physical texture in that sheep's wool. I've added PVA glue to acrylics to thicken them up to give texture on tree trunks and fur.
