Really eye catching and a smashing piece Jo.

Snow is difficult, isn't it? However, I like the way you have introduced different and interesting colours into it as this makes it so much more interesting than just being white. Great sheep as well.

Gorgeous work, with excellent and varied mark making and superb use of color that, together, give the painting such vitality.

Great piece of work, Jo. As Thea says, snow is hard to represent. (I wouldn't know where to start)! But you've really shown it well. Love the sheep too.

Another super collection of paintings Jo describing the wild atmosphere of the area.

As you observe, Ian, snow is indeed a specialist area, but photographs taken during heavy snowfalls in West Yorkshire a few years ago, together with careful study of examples on that wonderful resource, the internet, and combined with a determination to at last tackle a really seasonal subject, persuaded me to have a go! Colours are a difficult one, but finding samples online which I really liked, and using David Curtis's excellent limited palette, I reached something really satisfactory. Yes, I'm pleased with this one!

Another gouache cameo on a Hahnemule watercolour postcard. I particularly like this paper, so it was a welcome surface to continue my very first tentative experiments in painting snow!
