This is so lovely. Very well captured.

What a fantastic sky! This is so well done I'm very jealous!

Thank you for you lovely comments Val and Jeanette. I have lots of skies, that were ruined by rubbish after-painting! Sometimes we can rescue them but not always. Thanks again John

Hi John, Found your portfolio and this is a lovely watery loose painting. Like you I do lots of skies which I find easy but then ruin the rest of the painting. That is the joy of watercolour.

Hello John, Thank you for your very kind comments, it is very much appreciated. Can I say that your watercolour has the look and feel of what I like to see in a watercolour, so, well done a super piece of work. Regards, Joe

Hi John, all things considered this is fabulous! and i`m not just saying that? This has the WOW factor! Realy well done mate and i mean that. HARRY [Greg].

Thanks for the kind comment Harry. I saw some of the mess after the storms and there were some lovely scenes; in the wake of a lot of misery of course. Thanks again John

This is a fantastic piece,i love it.Nice to see im not the only person painting grey skies. Thanks for your comments on my paintings too. The paper i use for oils is made for use with oils and is just as good as canvas, made by winsor & newton and daler rowney. Anyway regards matt.

This is a wonderful painting John. Loose, yet powerful. Lots of atmosphere. I really love it.

Thank you for your kind comments Robyn. I do appreciate remarks like this, and it makes me feel I am on the right track. So, maybe I should get this one framed up. Thanks again. regards John

Painted with confidence in ability , very effective

This is really nice work John, i especially love the sky (surprise, surprise) but also the trees on either side are wonderful..this seems like a very confident picture, i guess you have been painting for a while but it gives me great hope for my own learning about painting...i'd love to paint something like this in future.

My kind of scene and well painted using lost and found style. Thumbs up from me regards Neil

Thank you Neil and Robyn amd Matthew. This is one of my own faves as it happens, I wish I could produce good pictures on demand though! The surgery is complete now, soIcan get in more easel time maybe? Hooray! Regards John.

And all about dissloved away in tears, taken by the sorrow of seasons lost forever. Magnificent melancholic mood. Awesome subtle depth of color. A rare beauty!!!

Watercolour on Arches 300lbs. 14" by 10" approx. An impression of just one corner of Gloucestershire, following the devastating floods of 2007. As the waters receded there were some atmospheric scenes, begging to be painted or photographed just for their own 'fearsome beauty'.

About the Artist
John Walker

I have painted most of my life. Childhood Christmases usually found a box of watercolours in my 'stocking'. I left school in 1954 and within 6 months I had enlisted in the Royal Navy, starting at the infamous HMS Ganges, near Shotley, Suffolk. Artists country yes, but no time for such things while…
