Thorndon Park at dusk

Comments

A lovely scene. I imagine coloured pencils a lot of hard work, especially on black paper which dulls the colour. You have painted this beautifully and managed to make the colours sing John. I imagine a lighter paper will be much easier to work on.

Thanks for your comment Carole. I started a similar scene on white watercolour paper but I didn’t like the result at all. I am now waiting for the delivery of a pad of Strathmore white paper. Watch this space!

A first attempt at a landscape in coloured pencil. It wasn’t actually at dusk but I did it on black paper and it came out rather dark, hence dusk. I learned a bit about coloured pencils such as one colour doesn’t necessarily cover another. I’m going to try a similar scene on white paper, hopefully without so many mistakes
