Looking out from under cover

Hello John, I've just started to properly understand the darks/lights relationship, it came to me finally when I painted my 'Galleywood in Snow' painting despite having read about it for a long time. I'm very interested to see your work and how dark you make your darks; I shall take a leaf out of your book and persevere! The shafts of warm light on the foreground arch keep it from being chilly or deadened, I feel.

Caroline Thank you for your comment. I have only recently discovered that to get a lively dark you need masses of frech ultramarine blue and masses of burnt sienna! Keep trying!
