Fabulous painting John, beautifully painted!

Gorgeous portrait. I am biased, of course, as I have a Flat Coat myself and she is the fourth one we have had. Milly is a liver Flat Coat but all the others have been black - a nightmare to photograph and also to paint. You have done a super job with this one and it reminds me so much of my dogs who were always at their happiest knee deep in water!

Super painting. A lot of work and attention to detail in this. Smashing piece of work.

This is a really good painting, and I especially like the way you've captured the movement in the water. Great work!

A beautiful job - not only the animal but the bank and the water. I bet the recipient was delighted!

a 16" square box canvas. This was a commission given as a prize at a charity auction so I had no idea what I would be asked to paint. My heart sank a bit when I heard it was a flatcoat, but I think the even colour of his fur was not as much of a problem as I expected. The reeds took quite a while! Titanium white, ultramarine, raw umber, yellow ochre, mars orange (by Blockx - surprisingly versatile), cadmium yellow pale, ultramarine violet and lamp black. The reeds are actually quite a lot brighter and yellower than they appear here!
