Certainly a smashing painting in it's genre.

How on earth did you find the patience to do the wallpaper .... The rest I could manage, but that sort of incidental touch (which works very well, too) would try my patience to snapping point. I like your friend's taste - and your mouse. (Is this a tiny pig in the Colonel's soup?)

The wallpaper was actually (for me) painted quickly - two sessions of less than an hour each, and deliberately kept (for me) relatively unfinished to push it to the back of the picture. It was painted with a small, old, well worn and much loved small hog filbert. Yes it is a pig - that was the start of the commission. It sat in the studio for ages while I ummed and aahhed about whether to paint the tablecloth in a damasked pattern. The poor commissioner had to wait 2 years while this went on! Then it was finally finished very quickly.

An unusual request for a friend. The paintings at the back and the mouse were my additional ideas. She seems to like it - no accounting for taste!
