An old black cat approached me last week, but I was in a hurry, so with a brief word of apology, hurried by. Now, the cat just pointedly looks the other way as I wander into view: they have a way of expressing their feelings.... perhaps your feline would be less judgemental.

This is really good Jilly. I have a black cat and have always shied away from painting him from the front because of the lack of contrast - or so I thought until I saw your painting.

Lovely result. I’ve done a few black cats and once you really look you can see a range of colours in the fur depending on the light.

Very well done and you have mastered the black fur very well

Super picture Jilly.

This is beautiful.Reminds me of the beautiful black cat we used to have.

This is beautifully done, the colours in the fur are amazing you definitely brought out the various layers of colours within the black fur . For me a cat or any pet portrait must have life in the eyes and you have certainly put some life into those deep eyes , they display curiosity, knowledge, and a certain I’m beautiful ain’t I .

Thank you for your kind comments 🌸🌸🌸

Pastel pencil portrait of a friends cat. I wanted to have a go at a black cat. I was worried initially it would look like a lump of coal with eyes but enjoyed weaving purples and blues in to give the coat a sheen.
