You're right. the effect is completely different.but no less effective and full of impact. The eyes are amazing. Very unhappy girl though!

makes me feel sad this Jenny

Thank you Gudrun, sorry. And sorry Tommy

The eyes put me in mind of that famous photograph from National Geographic of the Afghan girl. Brilliant work Jenny.

Thank you Val, glad you like it - I don't see much similarity with the rather good National Geographic photo though. http://www.artworlddigital.com/images/afghan.gif

Your tonal work is super, Jenny. The painting has an intriguing effect - she does look unhappy, but it makes one wonder why. It's like a piece with a social commentary.

It's the same piercing haunted look in the eyes to me Jenny.

Hi Jenny, thanks for your lovely comment on my pastel portrait of my Labrador Retriever Rosie, I love the way you make your paintings, unique and so effective

thank you Seok, Val and Ros, for taking the time to comment. I was quite pleased with this one so I had been disappointed so few comments and those rather negative. My own fault, I know people prefer 'happy' pictures in pretty colours

Quink and Miltons, approx 16 " x 12" I find it interesting that although it is the same black quink and the same miltons bleach and the same working method the colours obtained are so very different on different watercolour papers. This Bockingford yields quite bronze tones
