I really love this picture, especially the hands in charcoal and just the apple in colour, very effective

I love the combination of pencil and colour. Beautifully done.

its all a bit smart arse & pretentious

Thank you Wendy & Carole. James, sorry I seem to have offended you in some way, 'smart' I wish I was, 'arse' well maybe, no 'pretentious' intended - I was merely working a series with hands as they are something I find difficult & playing with the use of oil pastel with charcoal. Guess I can't count on your vote then !

Sorry Jenny I had too much wine x I do think it's a bit pretentious though and would have liked it without the hands IMHO OR with some Green weird hands???

Dear James, constructive criticism always welcome - how else will I learn- what does IMHO mean?

super drawings

I love the combination of the two media. Very striking! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder .... thank goodness we don't all have the same tastes.

Thanks Jenny IMHO = In My Humble Opinion xx

Oustanding.Anybody that can draw hands with that degree of talent commands my respect. I find nothing wrong with the whole painting as it immediately grabs my attention and I really like the contrast between hands and apple(which is about as good as you could get).

Thank you Alan, Avril and Keith for the kindness of your comments

Well I must like smart arse pretentious work (poor choice of words by the way James) as I think this painting is superb. It really grabbed my attention. I missed it when it was posted but someone drew my attention to it and I am glad they did. It is a brilliant composition and also brilliantly executed. Really well done.

I agree with Keith, well done.

Another superb hands study . . . and well worth casting a vote! I look forward to seeing this and more at Gallery North.

You hit the nail on the head Keith. Very well drawn and I could eat the apple! Good luck Jenny.

Great study and composition. I love the contrast of the colours of the fruit against the hands. I am not surprised that the painting is shorlisted. Very well done.

As soon as I saw your painting, I knew that I've seen it somewhere. I ordered some supplies from the agent and browsed through this competition. I did vote for yours but not number one. There are great paintings and since yours struck me among the rest thats a good sign. I wish you luck.

thank you Thea, Sue, Roger, Fred, Beatrice & Lorraine. Fred - I did eat the apple. Roger - do come to the current exhibition at Gallery North, it is a very good one, come on Friday morning & I'll give you a cup of coffee.

love your work jenny x
