Hi Jenny. I like the way you have done the trees and the heather stand out.

Thanks John - yes, on reflection, the trees were probably the most successful part!

It's a great first pastel Jenny, well done.

Jenny you're not leaving very much room for improvement, this is a smashing painting for a first go.

This is very good, the heather and trees are particularly successful, well done! X

Thanks Margaret, Fiona and Tania, comments really appreciated.

Thanks Dennis. (Good to see you back again.)

Jenny your first pastel? stay with it this is excellent lovely tonal contrast and colour harmony love that tree line

Thanks very much David for your encouraging comments. Yes, this is my first finished pastel painting. I've had several sets of pastels for years but couldn't get on with them other than for tidying up watercolour paintings. However now I've found a pastel paper I like I'll have to try some more!

This one's a bit rough though (the painting, not the paper!) but will try some more and hope to improve.
