Rape field - Middleton St George

Nice composition, great colours

You've achieved a quite creamy quality in your acrylic paint, and a subtlety for which acrylic is not exactly renowned. I find oilseed rape fields hard to paint, because the colour is so strident amongst the soft greens and browns of the English countryside. You've pulled it off here, though, through the mixture of yellows, I suspect, and the use of complementary violet; and of course you've broken the strong yellow up very cleverly. I don't like the smell of them either!

Lovely image, I too am just about to do a painting of a rape field - the colours are amazing.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. Shall look forward to seeing your painting Sheridan.

Acrylic on canvas 16" x 20" Middleton St George is a little village on the outskirts of Darlington. I love the colour of rape fields but have to say don't like the smell of them!
