As a great admirer of botanical work, I think this is so beautiful. The veining and shading of your leaves and those little seeds ........such great detail Jay.

Hello Carole, Let me just tell you, I almost ended up hating papayas. Actually, I don't think I've eaten one since. lol My goodness! When I bought the antique, botanical print - which by the way was faded and dull - I was really excited about doing a large piece, I knew possibilities plenty and everything went great from the get go- until I started on the seeds...it seemed there was no end in sight. Then, when came the veins and I was not a happy costumer. But, as always, I rode the bull till the bell rang and landed on my feet. I was very happy with the results, I must say and it went to a lovely home. Thanks so much. Jay

I tend to prefer a looser interpretation of a subject, but I have to say that this is an exquisite piece of work. Fantastic colours and intricate shapes makes for such an interesting painting. It is really quite perfect.
