I visited this ruined 15th century castle at Loch Assynt, Scotland, on a calm sunny summer’s day. Rather than copying the scene using my photo as a reference, I decided to transform it with some dramatic stormy weather, as Turner often did. Graphite and charcoal (Derwent XL blocks, Coates willow charcoal and General charcoal pencils) on A4 cartridge paper.
