The Lyvennet

Really good charcoal drawing

Excellent drawing

Many thanks Russell, Heather, Anne and Paul. This is my first picture done with charcoal on a gesso-coated surface. The gesso’s texture adds variation and interest to the mark making and it’s also easy to scrape off the charcoal to reveal the clean white substrate. And now I’ve found a use for the cardboard backs of watercolour pads!

A very fine drawing James.
