A beautiful bird, native to North America but also a very rare migrant to Western Europe including the British Isles. Its name honours Anna Blackburne, an English ornithologist. It popped up randomly on my Facebook feed, probably because the algorithm “knows” that I’m interested in wildlife (and art, of course). I couldn’t resist painting it in Winsor & Newton gouache on grey-toned Clairefontaine mixed media paper.
