The simple, graceful lines of the branches are a lovely and effective setting for the bird.

Waxwing, a winter visitor to the UK, perched on a birch tree outside our kitchen window. My hasty out-of-focus photo provided the motivation and reference for this drawing with Rohrer & Klingner ink and diluted Indian ink on Canson cold-pressed paper.
