Inspired by the rocky pools exposed by a receding tide. size: 60x70cm on canvas. Palette included cobalt blue, naples yellow, the cadmiums and burnt siena and ultramarine blue for the dark tones, also titanium white and iridecent white. The gull was added as a way of focusing attention onto the rocks as well as back to the ocean. Also adding [I believe] to the sense of 'quiet' .
